Nigeria
About seven years ago, God placed a calling on our hearts to become involved in mission work in Jos, Nigeria. At first, we weren’t sure exactly where we fit into this mission, but as we learned more about the challenges people face, God made it clear where we needed to focus our efforts.
Nigeria has countless needs, and seeing the suffering can be overwhelming. However, after much prayer and discernment, we have narrowed our mission to a few key areas where we can make the greatest impact:
✅ Sharing God’s Message – Reaching a specific group of people in Nigeria with the love and truth of Christ.
✅ Building Relationships – Establishing meaningful connections to demonstrate God’s love in action.
✅ Providing Clean Water – Supplying sustainable solutions for clean drinking water.
✅ Feeding the Hungry – Offering food assistance to those in desperate need.
✅ Distributing Bibles – Ensuring that those who long for God’s Word have access to it.
Through these efforts, we seek to bring hope, relief, and the message of Christ to those in need.

Access to clean water is a daily struggle for many in Nigeria. Waterborne diseases are widespread due to a lack of safe drinking water, impacting countless lives. At Throwing Seeds, we are committed to making a difference.
One of the most effective solutions is portable water filters—like the one pictured above—that can purify up to one million gallons of water. These filters, purchased from Sawyer Filters for just $25 each, come with a bucket attachment, allowing any plastic container to become a source of clean, safe drinking water.
Challenges of Water Access in Nigeria
Water is obtained in several ways, each with its own challenges:
• Natural Sources: Lakes are scarce, and streams flow only during the rainy season, often drying up when water is needed most.
• Hand-Dug Wells: Some communities rely on shallow wells, but these can dry up in the dry season, making them an unreliable source.
• Boreholes: The best long-term solution is a borehole well, which taps into deep, sustainable water sources unaffected by seasonal changes. A missionary we work with in Nigeria has access to a water well drilling machine that can reach these deep reserves, providing a continuous supply of clean water for entire communities.

What an incredible and strategic tool the Audio Bible is! It seems like it’s a perfect fit for the mobile, diverse nature of the migrant communities we are working with. The fact that it can be programmed in various languages and tailored with additional resources, like stories and teachings, really makes it a unique and adaptable tool for ministry.

Providing Bibles for Those in Need
For many in Nigeria, obtaining a Bible is a challenge. Life’s daily struggles leave many without the means to purchase one, and persecution has resulted in believers losing their Bibles as their homes were burned in attacks.
At just $4 per Bible, we have the opportunity to place God’s Word into the hands of those who need it most. We provide different types of Bibles to meet individual needs—Youth Bibles, Adult Bibles, and Hausa-language Bibles—ensuring that people can read and understand Scripture in a meaningful way.

Street Outreaches – As teams minister to those struggling with addiction, the comforting words of the Bible bring healing and hope.
Widows in Crisis – Due to ongoing violence and persecution, many women have lost their husbands. The Bible provides strength and encouragement as they navigate their grief.

Supporting the Oppressed and Less Privileged in Nigeria
Nigeria, a nation of over 213 million people, is rich in culture, beauty, and diversity. However, poverty, conflict, and persecution have left many struggling to survive. In Plateau State, where our ministry is based, nearly 5 million people live amid economic hardship. With an average monthly salary of just $20–$30, many families face immense challenges in providing for their basic needs.
At Throwing Seeds, we are committed to easing this burden by providing food and essential supplies to those in need.
Widows in Crisis
Ongoing civil unrest has left many women widowed, forcing them to provide for their families alone. In Plateau State alone, hundreds of marriages have ended due to violence. Through City Ministries, we partner with local leaders to deliver food, supplies, and support to these widows, helping them care for their children and rebuild their lives.
Persecuted Believers
In Nigeria, many Christians face severe persecution. Violent conflicts have driven families from their homes, forcing them to flee with only the clothes on their backs. Some seek refuge in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, while others relocate in search of safety and stability. For some, returning home is possible, but for many, the threat of violence prevents them from ever going back.
