The Harvest is Plentiful
I would like to welcome you to my website. Whether you're here from just browsing, or someone suggested this site, or you bought one of the products I sell and scanned the flow code, thank you for your interest. The majority of the money I make from selling my different items goes directly to ministering to the different projects I have listed, so thank you for your donation! We want to be used by God in supporting the many needs in Nigeria, and we can only do that with your support. Please consider supporting one of the different projects in which we minister.
Throwing Seeds was established not only to help those in need, but to also act as a support group for missionaries already established in the respective areas. We see the need to come alongside those who are already active in their areas and support them in their passion and encourage them both through prayer and financial support. We are currently serving in Jos, Nigeria and surrounding areas.
Our steer raffle is Back! Each year we raffle a pasture raised/grain finished steer to fund our cattle outreach. A big thanks to H Bar Cattle Company for the steer they donated for this event. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year for the cattle outreaches. Each donation to Throwing Seeds up to the drawing date will receive raffle ticket credit. If you would like to pay with Venmo, please use the following name to pay with and please contact me, Brent Hail at 903-721-2706 and give me your phone number so i can fill out the tickets. You can also contact Matt Hazel at 903-288-7416 and do the same with him.

About seven years ago, God laid it on our hearts to get involved in the mission work in Jos, Nigeria. At first, we had to find out exactly where we fit into the whole process, but as we learned more about what's happening there, it became clear what we needed to do.
As you would expect, there are many needs in Nigeria, so many that it can be overwhelming as you see the people suffering there, and that makes it difficult trying to figure out where to try to help. We have narrowed it down to a few areas.
Many have asked me about who I work with in Nigeria. The church I attend, Fellowship Bible Church in Jacksonville, Texas has been supporting a missionary there for 24 years. Peter and Miriam Fretheim started City Ministries, and have been ministering there for many years. One of the main focuses of their ministry is taking care of orphans and widows, along with many other ministries. They are located in the city of Jos, which is in Plateau State. I made my first trip there in 2016. It is amazing and extremely humbling sight to see how things work in Nigeria. It is also amazing to see how God has been working, and every time I go to Nigeria, I am amazed yet again. The Fretheims have been a huge encouragement to me, seeing the many ways they humbly serve, all for the Glory of God.
This may be a little unorthodox, but our main way of talking with those of another religion is by taking care of their cattle. In order to talk with people who think differently than we do, we first have to establish a relationship with them. This is accomplished by caring for their cattle. For as little as fifty cents each, we can give the cattle the injections they need. Their cattle are very important to them, so we show the people that we care about them by caring for their cattle. This has been a very effective way to develop relationships. We have injected thousands of cattle and have also developed hundreds of relationships. This project has also helped in sustaining peace in certain areas, and our team there has been able to share with them about the Prince of Peace and many have come to faith. The funds given goes directly for the purchase of the medication and also for the team when they travel. Clean water is difficult for many in Nigeria. Water borne diseases are part of everyday life there. We at Throwing Seeds want to help make a difference in this area. Shown in the picture above is a portable water filter that can filter up to one million gallons. The filters come with a bucket attachment, so any plastic container can become a vessel for clean water. Sadly, many Nigerians have to deal with the diseases for lack of clean drinking water. Currently, the filters with the bucket attachments are $25.00 each, and we purchase them from Sawyer Filters.
There are different ways that water is obtained there. First, is from a natural source like a lake or a stream. There aren't many natural lakes there, so water can be difficult to obtain. Streams do flow during the rainy season, but dry up during the dry season.
Water can also be obtained from a hand dug well when the water table is reached. The water table is shallow in some locations and very deep in other locations. Hand dug wells can dry up during the dry season.
The best option for digging a well is a bore hole. The missionary I work with in Nigeria has access to a water well drilling machine which can drill very deep. The machine can drill down to a sustainable water source that's not affected by the dry season, which provides a continuous supply of water and will service a larger area.

Bibles are difficult to obtain for many in Nigeria. Everyday life is a struggle for many, with no way of purchasing a Bible for themselves or even for their families. Persecution has also led to many losing their Bibles because their homes were burned during the attacks.
Bibles cost three dollars each, and are valued among Nigerian Christians. There are different types of Bibles purchased to help meet the individual needs-Youth Bibles, Adult Bibles and Bibles in their common language of Hausa are a few examples.
Street outreaches are one example of areas that need Bibles. As teams share the love of God with those who struggle with addiction, the words written in the Bible are comforting to those who are dealing with personal issues. We want to give them hope by sharing with them the hope that Jesus can bring.
Widows is another area that Bibles are needed. There are many widows in Nigeria due to the violence and persecution against Christians. Many widows are comforted by the words they read in the Bible and we would love to be able to supply them with as many Bibles as possible. If you would like to donate for the Bibles please click the link, and it will take you to the donation page.

City of Refuge was established by Michael Kurams in 2016 because of the need for a place to provide care for orphaned children. Due to the violence in the northeastern part of Nigeria, many children lost their parents and had no one to care for them. Their vision is to see the lives of these children changed into responsible God fearing individuals to help change the country of Nigeria. They do this by providing the displaced children with shelter, food, medical treatment, basic education and the Gospel. They also provide psychological and social support through counseling and discipleship. Many of these children have witnessed horrific things and it takes time for them to decompress after living through such circumstances. The IDP (internally displaced person) kids are those whose communities were destroyed by the insurgency in Northern Nigeria. Most of the children were displaced, left with no shelter, no education, no source of livelihood. Michael has done a fantastic job taking care of these children.
The meaning of these Hausa words is to help support the oppressed and less privileged. Nigeria is home to more than 213 million people, and almost 5 million live in Plateau State, which is the hub of our ministry. The average monthly salary is 20-30 US dollars, which can be difficult providing for a family. We at Throwing Seeds want to help ease the burden on families by providing food for them.
Nigeria is a land abundant with beauty and diversity. The people are renowned for their friendliness and hospitality. However, poverty is an unfortunate reality for many Nigerians, with a significant portion of the population lacking access to basic necessities such as food. The impact of intolerance and conflict have forced many to flee their homes and farms, hindering their ability to cultivate crops and sustain their livelihoods.
WIDOWS
Unfortunately, there are many widows in Nigeria because of the civil unrest. Hundreds of marriages have ended because of the violence in Plateau State alone. City Ministries works with local leaders in different communities to help the widows sustain themselves.
There are different programs to assist the widows to provide for themselves and their children. For 40 dollars you can provide a widow with a small area to grow and harvest their own crops, thereby easing the demand for food.
For only 3 dollars, you can provide a chicken that they can raise to the point to where they are laying eggs, which is a sustainable source of food for them.
Persecuted Christians
Many Christians are persecuted in Nigeria. With conflicts occurring frequently, many are driven from their homes just to save themselves and their families. Many have to move from their homes to other areas just to escape the violence, or be placed into an IDP camp. They leave their homes with just the clothes on their backs, and now have to look for a way to survive.
Sadly this occurs way too often. Sometimes they can return to their homes, but there are times where the threat of violence prevents them from returning home.
